Daily Mission Briefing

Good work. The Strazi have cleared our entry into the Vvarix security perimeter. We don't have much time. A security envoy is being sent to speak to me regarding the information that I pressed was so urgent. You're up.

Mission Dialogue

Ba'ryl: That's odd.
What is it?

Ba'ryl: The envoy is... turning around. They are no longer on an intercept course.
Is there any indication that we lost our cover?

Ba'ryl: No... it looks like a different ship is approaching instead, though. A Terran Outsider vessel.
That can't be good.

Ba'ryl: They are hailing me.
Try to hold them off. Ravyn and I are still preparing our cloaked pods for this mission. We need more time.

Ba'ryl: I don't think I can. Should I open the comm?
.... Alright.

P'laal: Greetings. I am P'laal. Do not be alarmed. I know why you three have come. Sileena has many allies, even here. I need your help, and you need mine.
Who are you? Who are you working for?

P'laal: There are things at work... much larger plans at stake. All you need to know is that I am on your side... on Sileena's side.
Ba'ryl, is she one of your? One of your contacts?

Ba'ryl: No, but given our present situation, we could use all the help we can get.
P'laal, can you at least tell us who sent you?

P'laal: I'm sure you will find out in time, but it is not my place to say.
Where is Sileena?

P'laal: I'm afraid Sileena is already inside the conduit. Despite my influence, it could not be prevented.
Has the transfer already started?

P'laal: Yes. She is locked into a destructive matter-steam transport process. Due to its nature, the process cannot be altered or stopped once it initiates... well, not without killing her.
How much of her pattern has been transported so far?

P'laal: Around 10%. The process should be complete in a few days.
What happens if we interrupt the porcedure?

P'laal: Sileena would die the moment her stasis field is released. A transfer of even half that amount would be too much for her body to cope with.
And there is no other way to restore her pattern?

P'laal: There is not. The conduit is feeding the pattern directly into the Vvarix singularity. We cannot recover it even if we wanted to.
But Vvarix still needs to send out information from the inside.

P'laal: Tiny amounts of information in comparison. Vvarix maintains a quantum tunnel with the inside for this purpose, though the process in which they actually transfer the information is still unknown to us scientifically... We know of its existence only through strong anecdotal evidence.
Is there a chance, even small, that she will survive if we stop the transfer?

P'laal: As I said, I'm afraid not. Worse, my superior has given orders for directive 387, to be carried out immediately.
That puts in a difficult position. Our mission is to save her, not kill her!

P'laal: The conduit must be destroyed before the transfer is completed. There isn't a chance for a rescue any longer. I stalled the procedure for as long as I could.
Ravyn.. I don't feel comfortable with this.

Ravyn: Neither do I, but if the roles were reversed, Sileena would not hesitate. We failed, and now we have to do what is right.
I hate to think I am breaking a promise...

Ravyn: We aren't. Her intel cannot get in their hands. She would want this. You know that.
P'laal, we didn't plan on this mission involving sabotage. We were only prepared for a rescue.

P'laal: We won't need armaments. Simply disrupting the transfer will suffice. I assume you brought a means for cloaked personal travel?
Yes, Two pods.

P'laal: I know the energy flux pattern for the insertion beam. A strong enough inversion pulse should cause enough feedback to disable the stasis field. With the field gone, she will die instantly... without pain.
Our pods won't be able to generate that kind of energy.

P'laal: My ship's primary drive core should suffice. For the space required, we'll need both pods.
Without your drive core, you'll be stranded here.

P'laal: Don't worry about me. I have other ways to escape.
How long have you known the location of Vvarix? You could have contacted us.

P'laal: It's not that simple. With what is at stake, the sacrifices required couldn't be changed. There are eyes everywhere. We had preferred a different outcome, yes, but the balance is still on our side.
I don't understand.

P'laal: You will, but this line of discussion will have to wait. We have work to do.
