 failing invade agaisnt a pure badies.

I put the population of a planete with 40 def 40 attack to 0 than, when i clicked on the ''invade''
it said ''failed, you got 44% to invade it blablabla'' but i had 144 attack and 38 def against this crappy 40 def 40 attack.

Now i wonder why i did not got it.

Because your attack is to low it has to be much higher to get a 100% chance. Keep working on it and you will get there. That happens a lot more when you are a small rank than at a higher one.

actually the chance caps at 90%, so theres always a chance at failure. But yes you need to completely overpower a planet to reach the cap.

I don't know the actual statistics, but I always think of planet defenses as X4 what it shows. 30 attack on a planet can still do some good damage against noobs, And as you can see here 40 defense can easily deal with 144 attack.

The game could at least tell you your chances before you make the move tho. Afaik doesn't happen that way.

I don't think even if you know your chances it matters. I invaded a planet that had no defenses only a guard and after killing off the population and the guard I failed. I took screenshot cause it was so unbelievable. My attack was 936 against 0 defense and lost even though my chance of success was 90% and this is not the only time this has happened. I understand the 10% failure chance but it seems to happen quite often. IMO, I think if a planet has no defense there is no reason why I should have any percent of failure.

I would also like to add that since my post I had 3 more tries with a 90% chance and failed them all. Two of those in a row on the same planet, something sounds off about those odds.

That is why I suggested a few weeks ago that the invasion cap needs to be changed. I thought the best way to do this was have invasion attack count over the 90% but normal attack will be limited to 90%

One person failing 3 times in a row on a 90% chance is just bad luck (I've had worse luck playing poker). Now if it happened to several people within a short period of time, then there might be something wrong with the programming.

The natural fauna of any planet could count as more defense than a bunch of 12 inch bows that probably wouldn't even show up on a scanner anyways. I mean it could be the weather in most cases.

Like Napoleon attacking Russia and ending up in a snowstorm? Ironically an ion storm charge actually lowers the planet defenses. and Napoleon was stupid enough to attack Russia in winter. :roll:

I would think that a ship loaded to the brim with crimson weapons and heavy quantum disruptors would be powerful enough to vaporize a planet that has no defenses.

Love the responses! Is there an artifact of some sort I can use that will help if your chance is already 90%? That is the highest it goes, right? I think zophah was right about working on the invasion cap. I've also always wondered why I could lose multiple planets in battle in one day but only be able to try to reclaim one a day.

I love how some perceive it as luck. If the cap is 90%, and you fail 3 times, that to me, is a 25% chance... LoL

Its like scan blitzing now. How on earth can I fail a scan almost 10 times during a blitz while the success rate was at 99%...

Albeit, I came to learn that I failed if I rushed the scan. Slowed down the blitz, happened far less often. In any case, makes you wonder if those percentages have some hidden factor. So... Its 90%, IF the planet's moons are in retrograde AND the local fauna aren't in mating season... Very unlucky if you try to invade during those volatile times. . .

on scanning the 99% is to find a planet then if theres any cloak on the planet it makes another roll vs its cloak.

That's just bad statistics, you can't say that you failed 3 times and got it once so it was a 25% chance, there was just a .09% chance that it would happen like that, so it was just bad luck. You need a lot more than 4 test cases to say with any certainty what the likelihood is.
