Sniping would require you to be on for the whole duration of the auction, some players have lives you know they cant sit down and constantly be keeping a eye on bids, also as it was pointed out internet speed would play a massive issue, some of us have such bad speed with our web that we would be better up using a toaster as our modems....

So you miss out on an auction for unlimitedly available virtual materials in a game. And you get your bid credits returned 100%. Wow! It's not like you're missing the opportunity to get a limited edition pre-release copy of Rick Astley's new album...

(Or at least a ##:##:## format, without the milliseconds. Either way is fine. FWIW, precision is in-vogue in the future, and will be more so, without end, as time goes on. It'd look natural in a space empire game.) --- Another suggestion: Newbie Exclusive Auctions.Whereas auctions take being rank 50 to participate... How about a "junior's auction" that's only tradable between players of ranks 1-49? They trade only with other newbies until their promotion to Rank 50.

You should be able to bid, while waiting for one of bids that you have won to arrive.

My major gripes are not being able to cancel (which thankfully dan said will be added), and the energy cost. It's complete bs to lose hundreds of energy in a bidding war with nothing to show for it in the end.
-REFUND ENERGY if outbid, or eliminate energy cost altogether plz!

Can we also get shorter than 2 hrs I rather 12 hrs was the long, 2 was the standard and like 30 minutes for the short, and maybe the name of the person who placed the last bid. I don't like the fact I am bidding against my legionmates for some items

Comment: Liking it so far, very interesting makes for fun and a nice way to spend energy i'f I'm trying to slow rank.
Suggestion: Maybe in the future create a mission/chain, or medals the involve the GTC. Mission idea: extra slots for bid/auction medals: place a bid with less than a minute remaining and win Sell X amount of materials and Y amount of artifacts

BEST IDEA IN THIS THREAD.

-REFUND ENERGY if outbid... HEAR, HEAR!No, it just defeats the purpose of the energy mechanism, which is anti-spam bid The real alternative is a 10% minimal increment in bids

just got sniped for 5 auctions in a row. i am ok with an energy cost, but an anti-sniping measure of adding 15-30 seconds (random amount) after every bid would make it more fair.
at the moment, i can make a couple bids on something, but if i'm not quicker on the trigger finger in the last second i lose out, regardless of the energy and time already spent. if the item is something desirable, all potential buyers deserve a fair chance to give the seller a decent price. i don't mind being outbid, but i also don't like having to give up on an auction just because of a timer issue, especially now that i'm increasing my energy level to play the auction house.
i have seen this happen in the auction house in battle st*tions, the bids can get pretty hairy - the devs there decided to implement a fixed price cap on items, so that the seller only gets that amount with the rest going into never-neverland. i think the 20% tariff that GL has implemented works better, but the bidding should go as long as folks are willing to pony up and spend energy.
then, besides the actual item price, bidders will have to factor in the likely energy cost as well, which adds a more strategic element. a 'fair' price will get fewer bidders as the deal-hunters look elsewhere. the low-ball starting amounts will cost more in energy as there will be more bidding. tracking the number of bids on an item so far would also give sellers information on what is in demand and they can price accordingly.
